Arpin Group keeps nearly 24,000 lbs. of electronic waste ouf of local landfills and receives ABC6 and New Channel 5's Green Conscious Company of the Year Award.

The First Annual E-Waste Fest 2009, a folk festival and e-waste recycling event hosted by worldwide mover, Arpin Group, Inc. and electronic waste recycler, Cartridge World RI, collected 23,860 lbs. of computers, printers, monitors and other electronic waste for safe disposal, preventing these items from landing in local landfills.

In addition to e-waste, Affordable Shredding was on hand to shred 4,200 lbs. of paper, to help reduce concerns about identity theft. In total, the event raised $3,200 to benefit local environmental group Save the Bay, which helps to protect and restore Rhode Island's Narragansett Bay.

During a special live broadcast, ABC6 and News Channel 5 presented Arpin Group, Inc. with the stations' first Green Conscious Company of the Year Award.

"We were very pleased with the turnout at E-Waste Fest 2009," said Peter Arpin, Partner, Arpin Group, Inc.  "It shows that we were successful at drawing attention to the ever-growing need for members our community to engage in environmentally smart practices.  We hope to continue this positive trend of awareness and collect even more electronic waste next year."

E-Waste Fest 2009, held at Arpin Group's campus in West Warwick, R.I. on Saturday, September 26, was a daylong campaign that featured musical acts, entertainment, educational programs and family activities.  Arpin Group, in partnership with Cartridge World, traditionally hosts two e-waste recycling events per year.  Further details may be found at http://www.ewastefest.com
