The names of area servicemen and women killed in action from World War I to present, as well as Virginians missing in action, were read as part of the observance.
Arpin Van Lines’ driver, Steven Meyer, recently spoke at the Memorial Day observance in Montross, Virginia. The observance was held on Monday, May 27, at the Old Westmoreland Courthouse. Featured speakers were the Honorable Margaret Ransone, delegate for the 99th Virginia House District, Leisa Billington of Wreaths Across America, and Steven Meyer of Arpin Van.
“Remembering the fallen and honoring our veterans will always be important to me,” said Arpin Van Lines’ driver Steven Meyer. “It is essential that we remember the fallen, honor our veterans, and teach our children the value of freedom so we don’t let our fallen die twice.”
For the past six years, Meyer has volunteered his time to deliver wreaths to veteran cemeteries on National Wreaths Across America Day. This past year, Meyer was part of Arpin Van Lines’ effort to deliver 23 truckloads containing 92,979 wreaths to veteran cemeteries across the United States for remembrance ceremonies.
