Brazil May be Disrupted Due to an Impending Strike of Dock WorkersMarch 14, 2013
Operations at major container ports throughout Brazil may be disrupted due to an impending strike of dock workers. The 24-hour strike, scheduled for March 19, 2013, is in response to the government’s plan to privatize port terminals throughout the country. The union representing the dock workers has stated that negotiations to date have not progressed.
Should the strike occur, shipments arriving at Brazilian ports are expected to incur considerable delays as well as additional port storage, demurrage, and various other charges.
Rest assured that your Arpin service team will do everything possible to minimize delays and manage the expectations of the relocating families to the best of their ability. We will continue to update you as the situation warrants.
