About the Chinese New Year Holiday

Chinese New Year is a special time when family members gather together to celebrate the most important first day in the Chinese calendar. Folklore tales tell of a gathering when Buddha invited animals to meet with him on Chinese New Year; twelve animals joined him. Subsequently, Buddha decided to name a year after each one of the animals at the gathering and announced to the people that persons born in that year would embody some of those animals’ personality traits. Those born in the year of the horse are said to be cheerful, adept with finances, perceptive, funny, talented, and good with their hands.
