Italian Moving Companies Report an Increase in Shipping DelaysFebruary 18, 2021
Due to the global container shortage and lack of space on steamship lines, our supplier partners in Italy are reporting difficulty booking shipments — especially those bound for Asia and North America. On average, shipments are being delayed approximately three weeks.
Consequently, we are advising customers with household goods and personal effects’ shipments moving through Italy to prepare for delays in departures/arrivals and expect longer than usual transit times. Additional costs may also be incurred due to freight surcharges, port storage, demurrage, and various other charges that may be assessed.
Your Arpin service team will be contacting all customers impacted by the delays to set up individualized contingency plans. We will continue to do everything possible to minimize service interruptions and manage the relocating families’ expectations to the best of our ability.
