Japan Implements New Air Freight Export Procedure

March 19, 2014

Effective April 1, 2014, all cargo being exported from Japan via air cargo will be subject to a mandatory inspection. Previously, this procedure was only applicable to shipments destined to the United States. Inspections will be focused on eliminating any explosive or flammable contents on air freight shipments. Consequently, each AWB/shipment will now be charged an additional flat fee ranging from 500 to 1,000 Japanese Yen (equal to approximately $5.00 to $10.00 USD per shipment).

Your Arpin Service team is aware of all shipments that may be impacted and will keep appropriate parties informed of any potential service disruption.
