News Alert – 5.4 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Zagreb, Croatia in the Midst of COVID-19 Lockdown

The strongest earthquake Croatia has seen in 140 years occurred Sunday morning, March 22, local time, rattling Croatia’s capital of Zagreb. Widespread damage has littered the streets with debris making travel difficult. The quake occurred 5.7 miles north of Zagreb and thus far, has caused an aftershock with a magnitude of 4.6.

During this time, residents of the area are still encouraged to comply with social distancing measures as the country attempts to handle the aftermath of this unfortunate natural disaster during the COVID-19 lockdown.
