Pamela Ryan, vice president of human resources has earned her certification as a senior professional in human resources (SPHR). The certification, awarded by the HR Certification Institute, signifies that Ryan possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating mastery in her field. This year, only 48.14% of those who took the SPHR exam passed.
“Certification as a senior human resource professional clearly demonstrates a commitment to personal excellence, a commitment to ongoing education and excellence to the human resource profession nationwide and around the world,” said Mary Power, CAE, executive director of the HR Certification Institute.
To become certified, an applicant must pass a comprehensive examination and demonstrate the highest possible level of human resource knowledge and experience across the six recognized HR core competencies. These competencies are business management & strategy, workforce planning & development, human resource development, compensation & benefits, employment and labor law, and risk management.
The HR Certification Institute is the recognized worldwide credentialing body for human resource profession and is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest organization dedicated exclusively to the human resource profession. The Institute’s purpose is to promote the establishment of professional standards of excellence and to recognize professionals who meet those standards.
Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts in European history and secondary education from Rhode Island College. She also attended the Massachusetts School of Law.
