Severe Weather Conditions Closes Ports at Several Locations in the United StatesJanuary 28, 2014
Severe winter weather conditions are currently being experienced in southern portions of the United States. As a consequence, we have been notified of several port closures:
Port of Houston, Texas
The Port of Houston, USA, has closed its administrative offices and terminals on January 28 and possibly January 29, 2014. The decision to close was made due to concerns over unsafe driving conditions in Houston and the surrounding areas.
Currently, the conditions indicate that modified hours may be realized on January 29. Officials at the Port of Houston will make an announcement no later than 11:00 am CST on Tuesday. The port will be updating its status via social media and on its web site www.portofhouston.com.
Ports in the State of South Carolina
All South Carolina ports will close on January 28 at 3:00 pm EST. Facilities are scheduled to re-open at 1:00 pm EST on January 29, 2014, weather permitting. Visit www.port-of-charleston.com to confirm if ports are in fact operating.
Based on current conditions, we expect shipment delays which may result in additional port storage and demurrage charges for import and export containers. Consult the United States’ National Weather Service for the latest information.
Your Arpin service team will continue to monitor this situation closely and will do everything possible to minimize delays and manage the expectations of the relocating families to the best of their ability.
